The field of genetic engineering require not just theoretical knowledge but also analytical and problem-solving skills. By bridging the gap between knowledge and practice, problem solving helps students master the subject, making them adept at thinking critically and performing under pressure. Also, regular practice with diverse problems equips them to handle the analytical and application-based questions commonly encountered in competitive exams.
There are numerous objective question-based books available in the fields of biotechnology and life sciences for aspirants of competitive exams such as GATE, DBT-NET, IIT JAM, GAT-B, CUET, etc. These books often compile PYQs (previous years' questions) in year wise manner, either with answer key alone or a few with explanations for selected questions. As teachers, we face significant time constraints in the classroom, making it challenging to discuss all the PYQs in detail. To address this gap, we have prepared this book, which includes PYQs as well as additional questions framed by us, focusing exclusively on genetic engineering - its concepts, tools, techniques, and applications. The book provides detailed explanations for all moderately difficult and difficult questions, ensuring better understanding for students. It helps to ease the intricacies of techniques like restriction digestion, ligation, cloning, sequencing and many more.
Since some questions are repeated across exams conducted by different agencies, we have prioritized introducing a wide range of questions rather than emphasizing their sources. We hope this book serves as a reliable companion for students on their journey to crack national-level exams. Ultimately, problem solving bridges the gap between theory and application, equipping students with the confidence and skills necessary for playing their role in research and industry.

Best wishes!
